History

In business for 32 years

Central Penn Health and Fitness center has been in operation since 1979. The concept was developed by two local physicians. The center first opened its doors at 450 Powers Avenue in 1982. The objective of the club was to promote fitness and wellness programs to the community. At the time, the center included many spa-like facilities and amenities.

In 1989, a new eight-lane Olympian size pool was constructed with a Jacuzzi. In addition, racquetball, volleyball, Olympic weights, and group exercise classes were incorporated into the program offerings. In 2003, the facility expanded to include personalized exercise prescriptions and nutritional counseling. In 2008, a tremendous renovation took place that included a remodeling of the locker rooms, building of a children’s area, development of a women-only fitness center, and a state-of-the-art cardiovascular area. Two large Aerobics studios were designed with a great view of the aquatics center. The name was changed to Central Penn Health and Fitness Center.

The club currently has 3,500 active members in a facility that is 40,000 square feet. The club has a strong social network of many friends who have exercised here together for the past 20+ years.

Trainer Profile

Josh Albert

Prescribing exercise and physical activity is not a one size fits all approach. Understanding that everyone is different and matching the appropriate exercise prescription is a very important element in personal training; hence the word “personal”.
